The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation instituted the Dr.Nemichand Jain Memorial Award to celebrate the 2550th Nirvana Mahotsava of Bhagwan Mahaveer. The Award is given for published and unpublished books authored either in Hindi or in English in not less than 150 pages on relevance of teachings of Bhagwan Mahaveer in today’s contemporary world and also create awareness about the health, hygiene, benefits of vegetarianism, non-violence, prevention of cruelty to animals, safeguarding ecology, trees, forests, animals and environment.

The award carries a cash component of Rs. 2,00,000, a citation and a memento.
